Easily grown from seed and will self-seed in the garden if spent flower heads are not promptly dead-headed. Leaves are best harvested by clipping them off at the base so as to maintain the attractiveness of the clumps.

Sun: Chives like full sun to part shade.

Soil: Chives are easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils.

Water: Chives grow best when watered frequently, as long as there is proper soil drainage. 

Zones: 4 to 8

Height/Spread: Chives grow about 12 inches tall and spread about 12 inches across.
